"Therefore, play music!" Benedick proclaims in the final scene of Shakespeare's song-filled comedy "Much Ado About Nothing." Other characters argue that they should skip the musical interlude and get on with things, but Benedick stands firm, and the play ends with his instructions to "strike up, pipers," followed by a wedding dance.
